The Commanche Lakes Golf Course____________________________
The Commanche Lakes Golf Course opened for play in March 2001. It is an 18 hole par 72 course designed by John Colligan. This championship track measures 7,000 yards from the tips, and boasts well over 100 bunkers.
Gold tees: par-72, 7,000 yards, 73.9/132
Blue tees: par-72, 6,633 yards, 72.2/127
White tees: par-72, 6,143 yards, 69.9/121
Black tees: par-72, 5,597 yards, 68.3/118
Red tees: par-72, 5,116 yards, 70.3/119
Squaw Valley Golf Club is consistently rated as one of the top courses in the state, including a 4 1/2 star rating from Golf Digest Magazine, and home to the #1 and #4 municipal courses in Texas by The Dallas Morning News. Perfect for a day trip or even better for a weekend golf getaway, Squaw Valley features beautiful vistas of century old Oak trees and Squaw Creek that meanders through both courses
The Apache Links Golf Course____________________________
Apache Links Golf Course's front ninend its back nine has narrow fairways that are tree lined and undulating. The course has some mounding to the flat terrain, and a scenic creek comes into play, mostly on the back.
# 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. "Hit it and rip it" golfers can go for the green by aiming over the lake, however most golfers would be advised to play the 362 yardstee to green down left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
#15 and 16 are tough back-to-back par 4s. #15 measures 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. #16 has an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long and you're going to want to go for the green..
Gold tees: par-72, 7,063 yards, 73.6/130
Blue tees: par-72, 6,731 yards, 71.9/125
White tees: par-72, 6,284 yards, 69.6/119
Black tees: par-72, 5,194 yards, 68.0/116
Red tees: par-72, 5,009 yards, 70.0/117

Played on a Sunday with Ideal Golfer coupon ($30.xx) which includes G/F, Cart and a 'Dog for lunch. From tee box to green - sand traps included - GREAT SHAPE / excellent layout! Club Staff and Carts girls - very friendly; epitomizing TX hospitality!! If they wanted to toughen this course up - easily done: shrink the fairways and let the Bermuda grow. Drove an hour to the course - worth it / no regrets; played in 3.5 hrs another plus. Get out to Squaw Valley - worth the drive!

Overall, an excellent course on its own, but with the competitive price, an even better value. Good break to senior golfers (55+). Now that the sister course (Apache Links) has reopened with new greens installed, the greens on Comanche Lakes should return to their normal smooth and quick characteristics.

Course was in great shape. Greens were a little slow, but in good condition. Wind was down, which made it play a little easier than normal.

Very forgiving fairways, so I always had a second shot, even with my fade. But the greens had interesting undulations, which balanced out the difficulty with the ease of the fairways. I beat my handicap, but would really like to see how I would do knowing about the greens and pin placement next time.
